Embedding Libraries in Research

Supporting research with Library Services researchers need.

About this course

Contributing to research success.

This one-day course is designed to connect services offered by Libraries to the research process using modern day 'business models'.

Discover the responsibilities and complexities borne by researchers at each stage of the research cycle, learn the researcher's language, identify existing gaps and opportunities to innovate a clear Library Value Proposition for Researchers.

Embedding Libraries in Research will provide insights into right-brain/left-brain methodologies for communicating, and how this can be used to strategically engage Researchers with the Libraries value proposition.

You will be working with Dr Tamika Holden, Principal of Knowledge Translation Australia, Adjunct Research at UWA and one of a few researchers in Australia who is certified in Knowledge Translation. Tamika has travelled the world delivering courses at conferences and international research organisations on making research connect with purpose and producing meaningful outcomes.

Place your stamp on the research cycle.

Topics you will cover throughout the day include...

What do researchers actually do?

Speaking researchers’ language

Understanding the existing research cycle; the benefits, outcomes and gains, and understanding what hinders results and slows the process.

Mapping existing services to identify gaps and opportunities to innovate 'gain enhancers' and 'pain relievers'

The entrepreneurial mindset

Expect to learn...

Researcher segmentation for analysis of unique needs

To identify where the Library value lies currently and identify opportunities to innovate a new value proposition using modern day 'business models'.

Left-brain/right-brain communication methods for strategically connecting
